Advent Calendar

As a kid, my dad’s company imported the chocolate advent calendars.  I don’t remember particularly caring for the ritual of opening the little windows, but I was (and am) a big fan of chocolate.  As I’ve gotten older and moved through different denominations, some of whom really do liturgy and some who don’t, I’ve come to appreciate the church calendar, particularly advent.  But until now I hadn’t really found an advent calendar that didn’t seem geared toward children…I don’t really need to open a little wooden box to find a toy, or have a cartoonish font announce the days until Jesus’ birth.

And then I found this advent calendar from  Naptime Diaries.  And it’s beautiful.  And perfectly unchildish.  I dug into my cooking twine, found a few command hooks, and I love the result.  Happy Advent!
